Yoga for Bed Time!!

I don't know if you have every heard of Tara Stiles, you might know her from fitness magazines, or from her yoga podcast. I love her new series that she is doing for Nissan, called Master the Shift. She has a tons of 2-3 mins videos I really like the before bed one. It seems so easy but when I do it, I am out for the night. Just hit the title and it should take you right to it! Good luck and sleep tight!

Cookies part 2

So not a big fan of molasses cookies, but I am loving the recipe my friend Jen gave me. I made them yesterday and just ate them all day today. I was going to bring some into work on Monday, but I really don't know between me and J.T. there might not be any left. Thank goodness that I didn't dip them in white chocolate like planned or there would be none.

Cars!

I have found my next car. I know, I am so close to paying off my kick ass car that I already have what are you looking at other car already. Why....? Because it is Kick Ass COOL!!!

Say hello to the Honda CR-X 2011 version. How cool is this car, you can't build one yet but I will be waiting. I really think that it depends on the colors I can get it in and what it feels like when I sit in it. When shopping for my last car (Scion XA 2006) I had my heart set on a Honda Fit which were brand new, then I sat in it and there was no way. I just didn't like it at all. I do have to say that after sitting in a mini I would be all over that if I could afford one.

What do you think?

Happy Stories! I love them.

A special night for Stillman in Missouri

MORE HOOPS: RivalsHigh 100: First update of the new year, who will be No.1?

Kirkwood (Mo.) High senior basketball player David "Chubbs" Stillman had a game he will remember forever on Monday night.

And it was all by design.

The Kirkwood Kid
Daniel Stillman was the King of Kirkwood on Monday night. Check out the photo galleryfrom our friends at KriewallPhotography.com.
Stillman, who is a special needs student at Kirkwood and has been the team's manager since his freshman year, suited up for his high school - and scored six points.

"This night was planned to give back to Chubbs for all he has given us the past four years," Kirkwood coach Bill Gunn said. "He made the night special."

Stillman, who started, entered to his name being blasted over the loudspeaker and chanted from the stands.

"It was so much fun," Stillman said. "Having my brothers, sister and family there also made it special."

The decision to start Stillman was an easy one for Gunn.

"We wanted him to experience putting on the jersey, starting and having the opportunity to play for Kirkwood," he said.

And play Stillman did.

Stillman did not simply log minutes after the game was decided. He was in for the tip, re-entered the game before halftime and again twice in the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter was when Stillman shined, knocking down a 3-pointer midway through the period.

Teammate Hunter Ward, a senior, said it was great to see Chubbs out there competing.

"We were all so glad and proud to see him out there smiling and having a blast," Ward said.

Putting a smile on the faces of his teammates will be the lasting memory of Stillman on the Kirkwood community, but this night would have an ending that no one could have planned.

With the game already decided, Gunn called a timeout and put Stillman back into the game.

"When Coach Gunn called timeout to get Chubbs back into the game, I asked the kids, 'How do we want this to end?' " opposing coach Chris Wilkenson said. "Chubbs had already scored, but they didn't care.

"They said, 'Coach we want him to hit another shot.' It shows that these kids have real character."

And hit another shot he did.

Stillman hits a buzzer beating three.
Stillman, with a flair for the dramatic, hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to close the game.

"The second 3-point basket at the buzzer was a perfect ending," Gunn said. "It was great to see the students and team carry him off the floor."

The reaction has already been overwhelming for Gunn and the team.

"It has been crazy today in a very positive way," he said. "The reaction from the media in St. Louis and throughout the country has been unreal."

Gunn has been contacted by NBC's The Today Show as well as many local St. Louis area news outlets regarding the story.

While the coach is certainly proud, he deflects the attention back to his player.

"I am so happy that this can bring recognition to not only David but to Special Olympians everywhere," he said.

Stillman, however, is still soaking in the game.

"Getting to play for Kirkwood and hitting those 3s was a dream come true," he said. "This is something I will remember the rest of my life."

Cookies

Looking for a great recipe for Molasses cookies, it's really hard to find a good one. On tonight menu we are having super stuffed navy bean soup with everything in it! So excited about that one. I am in charge of cookies tomorrow when I get home from work. It's going to be a "short" day at least I am going to be getting home at a good time. So this weekend I have off for two days straight! Going to run out and get kitty food and whatever ingredients I need for the cookies as soon as I get out of work, then off to clean the house! I like getting everything done at the start of the weekend, so I can be a bum for the rest. On netflixs I just got Funny People and the first disc of SportsNight. I will let you know how it goes.

Has anyone been watching The Biggest Loser? I don't like the green or red team at all. I might stop watching this season after next week just because I get so upset at them. In a bad way, and I am mad that they (red) are from Texas. I would never want her to be my lawyer and she has to be a police scanner chaser at that. Okay, not going to talk about it or I will get all upset again.

LIfe and other thoughts

So my head is spinning from work, Monday was just a really bad way to start off the week by the end of the day it wasn't that bad. Today was just a lot of different pulling and thoughts in different directions. I have my To Do List ready for the rest of the week and I am really hoping that I can get through it, at least my work one. I have to tell you that it is very odd working Mon-Fri 8-5/6 and I am completely off my cleaning schedule.
I know what you are thinking at this point, this girl is crazy. Not really, a long time ago a great friend of mine, Suzie, told me about how she has a couple of choirs that she does daily so that when it is her day off everything is almost done. I tired it out and love it!! It's not perfect and I don't always stick to it, depending on when my days off fall. I keep an good idea though. This week I am behind on the vacuuming and the bathrooms and dusting and then this weekend I have to do the garage :( Not looking forward to that one at all!!

How do you keep your home in order?

My To Do List

So today I got the first Professor Layton game for the DS, I am very excited for it truth be told. That is what the picture below is all about. J.T.'s mom is hooked on hidden puzzle games and when we went to visit my family we got the Millionaire game. Everyone was hooked on it. This game has gotten amazing reviews of I mean 222 5 stars reviews, that is awesome! Let me tell you.

I am also playing Ghostbusters for the XBOX 360, I am really enjoying it. I am hoping to play it for a while tomorrow. If you are on XBOX 360 I am Aliwave12, be my friend.

I am also in the middle of reading a book by Sophie Kinsella, the author of the shopaholic series. The Undomestic Goddess, and it is super fun at least so far I am about 1/2 through the book. Does anyone have any good books they are reading right now? Let me know and we will trade. I have 3 books waiting for me when I am done with this one. Two of them will catch me up on 2 different series, and the other if I like it is another series. This one is a fun kind of romantic book, the others are about mysteries and women detectives. I hope that you enjoy!

Dear Brindles Awesome Ice Cream in San Antonio Texas, I love you! You are so my downfall in life and I am kind of thankful that you are far away from where I live in town and that I have to fight traffic to get to you. You are my special treat, but the Red Velvet is AMAZING!! I thought that your Brindles flavor was awesome, but Red Velvet blows it out of the water. Thank You so much!!

A few of my favorite blogs!

I am hooked on blogs for about the past year. You can see from the side that I have a bunch that I check, but I have a couple more to add.

My wonderful friend Karen has a great blog that you can 100% relate to:

http://couggrad.wordpress.com/

Another one is my friend Wendi who I just met this summer and had a blast at the water-park with. She does the most amazing camera work I have ever seen. This goes under again the if I ever get married, she will do the photos.

http://blog.thompsonpoole.com/

I love Tara Stiles! She is an amazing yoga teacher/exercise model.

I hope that you enjoy these and every couple of weeks I will post a couple more.

Sunday Night Fun

So today was my sat and sunday if you will. I have been working a bunch this weekend due to it being a holiday. I work tomorrow so I can do payroll and work on cleaning. That is the theme of this week at work, along with meetings. I don't mind the cleaning, it is kind of peaceful when you are by yourself and you see what 8-10 hrs of cleaning can do. In a way though it is sad because it's not like your house where you and your loved ones mess things up again over a period of a couple days. It is random strangers and they will mess everything up in a matter of hours. Oh well, can't do anything about it and at least I still have my job which is all that matters for the moment.

I have been reconnecting with a group of girls that I went to high school with in good old Millcreek. They are hooked on 30-day shred and the wii fit. I have both and really enjoy the fit but I haven't really used it since we moved into the house. I busted it out today and played for about an hour, then did the kettlenetics workout. It kicked my butt!! I thought that I would need a heavier weight than 4lbs, was I wrong! It comes with a 30 day workout plan and tomorrow is a rest day, I will let you know how I feel then.

When I get married...

This is it!! I am no where close to even thinking about getting married, but I found these today and I now know my wedding cake topper without a doubt!!! http://www.paulpapedesigns.com/Store_WI.html

These are the coolest!! I must have them!!

Just to get me in shape.

I ordered Kettlenetics from QVC.com it comes with 4 more workouts on different DVDs and if I don't like it I can return it for all my money back. Got to love the Q! I plan on starting it either tomorrow morning or Friday morning. I really like how it comes with a 30 day planner of what workouts to do. I am really hoping this works great, wish me luck!

So Far...

A couple of days ago on Cookie Madness, one of my favorite blogs, if you click on So Far it goes straight to it. Anna is in Austin so I can find everything she uses to bake with, always a bonus. I am in my no chocolate week right now and really needed a snack for at night. It sucks to watch J.T. eat all these yummy snacks and I have to eat applesauce because everything else we have in the house is way too much sugar to eat late at night. I made the dough for these Crinkly Butterscotch and Pecan Cookies, I figured I would bake them while we are eating. I will let you know how they turn out. I also made this week Trader Joe's cornbread and it was so good! We have been having it with our made from scratch chicken noodle soup! Oh yeah, I am the bomb these past couple of weeks.

Crock Pot Fun

Good morning! I have been a proud owner of a wonderful crockpot for a couple months now, after going to visit my parents and eating wonderful pot roast. I will post a couple of my favorites up here, like Dill Roast (to die for and I don't even like dill), and more!
We are HUGE soup lovers, as you can see from the picture he was trying to talk me into buying this for his soup bowl. Today is going to be a fun adventure of Chicken and Gnocchi Soup which according to the recipe that I am using only takes 10 mins. to make. We are trying it out in the crock pot today because we just bought regular chicken breast and not pre cooked. I am excited just because I love the veggies it has in it. I add way more them they say too, and I think that we will be having some spinach in it too. I will let you know how it goes, wish me luck ;)

Night 2 of Humidifier

So tonight is night two with the Safety 360 humidifier. It was really quite all night, but the one little light kept bugging me so tonight I am just going to turn the machine around. I slept a little better last night then I did the night before but only until 5:30ish. I only had it half way on so I think that tonight I am going to turn it up more and cover the light. Tomorrow is my day off but my honey's alarm goes off at 5:30 am for he works. It sucks that we work completely different days, because sleeping in is so rare. We did have a great nap today though, so I will take that. My goal for tomorrow is cleaning the kitchen/ living room, kitty stuff, read a couple chapters in my book, catch up on the Martha Stewart show, and doing a bunch of stitching. Ordered a new book online and I will let you know all about it once I finally get it. Have a great night! P.S. This is lulu and yes she really sits like this and hangs out. She is a silly kitty who beats the crap out of her brother all the time.

I LOVE Etsy

So a have been going onto the Etsy website for the past couple of months, and have really been wanting to get something but there is so much I didn't know where to start. I started at Hannapt's store with these AMAZING catnip eyeballs. If you click on the picture you go straight to her site. My cats love them and started to flip out as soon as I walked in the door with them still in the package. If you haven't been to Etsy, be ready to spend a couple of hours there trust me. Don't be afraid, everything that I have gotten is awesome! My aunt also has an amazing store on Etsy which is BeadzByBeth, check her out too!

Post Secret

This is a new one from the Post Secret Blog/Book page. I love going there every Sunday, it is a wonderful way to start off the week. I had to copy this one and show it to you, because this is so me! I just want to be a kick ass housewife with a fun part time job. I told this at my work Christmas party a couple of years back and got the quite shock then laughter. It's all good I understand that women fought to be where we are now, but I am looked at and treated a good amount of time like a child or a pest. I really don't like that, for even though sometimes I don't act like it because I get to work with kids and have fun, I am still a grown up.

Sleep Tonight?!?

So last night it was super cold here in south Texas, just like it was in most of the U.S. and we had the heat going. I have to tell you that I am not a big heat fan, but must have my a.c. in the summer to sleep. While my man does not like the a.c. and loves the heat. My problem with the heater (lessons learned from living up in Erie, P.A. for 18yrs.) is that it dries me out and I can sleep/get really sick a lot. Today just to get snot back so I could breath I spent a good 45 mins outside during work around 8:30 in the morning. Talking with my mom about how they fixed the problem when I was little, she brought up me getting a humidifier and with some research & thanks to reviews I brought my very own Safety 1st 360 degree one. I am trying it out tonight and I will let you know how it goes. I was really hoping to get the frog one that they have but this one was cheaper and had better reviews.
Speaking of reviews, what did we do in the world before reviews? I know it was mostly word of mouth, but still most of the stuff I want I don't know anyone who has it. I am an odd one who likes odd things, but am always thankful for my friends. I just got a kindle and am trying to figure that one out, but I love all the free books and all the reviews on Amazon of books. That is honestly how I have found so many of the books that I read. That is how I found the author Elaine Viets who has two different but really good mystery series, both with strong female leads. I have to say that I enjoy the shopping one more then the dead end job one, though the next book on the list is one working in a hotel which I do so it might sway my vote. Again I will keep you in the loop.

Good Night!

Jane McGonigal on the merits of doing: "I didn't accomplish what i set out to do, but i realized i had set out to do the wrong things"

Organizing your house

What are a couple of your favorite things that you use in your everyday life that help you stay organized? I have cleaned out almost 90% of the house, working on the computer desk, 3rd bedroom, and garage. I am trying to make a list as I go room to room figuring out what I need to make our life easier to find things. As I said before I have a wish list going on The Container Store.com and with that I got a 20% off coupon for the store.
Mostly I need ideas for the pantry, kitchen/spices, sewing/crafting stuff, and under the bathroom sink. I think that after MLK day we are going to try and go out and start buying what we can at the moment. I will post pictures as we work.

Have a wonderful night and stay warm!! Currently in San Antonio we are at 27 outside, which is why I am wearing my fuzzy socks to bed.

I love my Zucchini Bread!

I love Zucchini bread. Truth be told I really need more load pans at the moment I only have one and I always make two loads. Today on http://www.cookiemadness.net/?p=5571 she posted the best looking zucchini/apple bread! I am all over it, let me tell you. At the moment I have 2 other recipes for this bread, one is boring and the other is from my Grandma B. who use to make it with pineapple. Grandma B.'s is my favorite of course!

Do you have any favorite kinds of homemade bread? I don't have a bread maker, and if I got one I feel it would be my personal downfall.

Thank you Pei Wei

Dear Pei Wei,

Thank you so much for your Ginger Broccoli with Chicken only being 290 calories per serving! Add the brown rice for 100, then Edamame for a starter at 160 it is the best meal every! New Year New You?

Christmas and New Year's have come and gone, thank goodness. I don't think that I could handle anymore 12 or more hour days. I was so run down that I was just a bum for the first couple days. I have been working on my New Years resolutions though! I was planning on starting with flossing and doing my hair/makeup. Instead due to the taking down of the holiday decorations I have started with re-organizing the whole house.

I am loving it! So far I have thrown out about 4 bags of trash/recycle, and need a 4th box for goodwill. The Container Store is my best friend at the moment, I have been going online and making a wish list of there products when I figure out what I need. The bonus is that if you start a wish list you get a 20% coupon for everything! I am a huge price comparer and I have to say that they beat out a lot of places. We were at Bed Bath and Beyond and the C. Store was a lot cheaper on many things.

Speaking of Bed Bath and Beyond, I have a Keurig coffee machine though I don't drink coffee, my boyfriend does though. We just bought and now are super hooked on the new Chai Latte drink in place of hot coco. I also use it every morning to make my tea, Black Cherry Berry is totally my favorite at the moment. I have to buy it two boxes at a time. Hope you have a great day! Off to clean the computer desk, then off the book store!!
