In the beginning there were books....

You will find out very fast that I have a love for books, a very odd love but still a love. I still have all of my Hardy Boy and Nancy Drew books, including the 25 books where they are in them together (in one Frank and Nancy... oh baby oh baby!) to bring the total to over 150 adventures. Why hang on to this and not all 105 of my babysitter club books you ask.. I want to past them down to my kids, when I have them, and I am kind really hoping for boys, with one girl. I'm not a girly girl per say and I don't know if I could handle girls. No matter what though I will love them once I have them. First step though I need a guy.. so now that I am totally off topic back we go.
I don't know about you all, but I love amazon.com and the list mania they have. I have found a couple of different authors who I now love that way, but I still don't find that much that I would like to read this way. I need MORE! I can easily read 2 to 3 books on my day off no problem. What I really need is your help, and I also want to help you all out too. Please remember that I like in my mind what are odd books, some best sellers, but still odd.
Tonight we will talk about one of my all time favorite authors, hands down! First off let me tell you that I need a story that I will get into but that I will also laugh at loud at multiple times while reading it. My all time never go wrong with any of her books is Jennifer Crusie. If you are going to start reading this author you should go out and buy Welcome to Temptation, and Faking It, reading Welcome first. They have some of the same character in them and to completing understand Faking It you need to read Welcome first. One of my favorite all time quotes/conversations comes from Faking It, I will post some of it up tomorrow so you will get a nibble of what a wonderful book it is. Next I would get Bet Me or Manhunting, both are non stop laughter. Jennifer also got together with another author Bob Mayer, and so far they have two books out. One in paperback, Don't Look Down, and the other one still in hardcover Agnes and the Hitman. Both are worth double or triple the price you will pay, trust me.
Now if you don't have a ton of money to spend on books and don't really do the used book store thing ( I love them but I understand that some people don't) I have to let you know about www.booksfree.com website. I am on a 6 books at a time place and you just have to plot out how you read but you should always have new books on there way to you. It is the best $16.00 I spend a month. It's just like Netflix, but with books! I hope this helps, more to come tomorrow!

Happy Turkey Day!

I hope that you all watched the parade, because I didn't. I am sad because I got food poisoing last night so no yummy food for me. I still have to bake brownies and green bean cassarole today though. I will wear gloves and a mask... yuck.. just the thought of food is not doing well. Today is going to be movie day and I am going to watch National Treasure; to get me ready for the second one coming out next month; and Casino Royale because you can never go wrong with James Bond. I talked with all my family today, they live all up and down the east coast and most of the time they were warmer than here! It's because the cold front hasn't hit them yet, but I am happy it is here because it feels more like Thanksgiving/almost Christmas time. I hope you all have a great Turkey Day! The book update I promised last time will be happening next week, I just got to busy planning this weekend at work. I had 3 days off this week and was at work for 2 of them, not fun.

Where the sidewalk ends

So I had a bunch of stuff to let you know about but then I was walking up to my apartment and found this by my car. It changed everything, so instead you are getting two of my favorite quotes. The first one is for national condom week Feb 14-21st.

My favorite condom advice ever, they say ribbed for her pleasure, but put it on inside out and it's ribbed for your pleasure.

This one is from a story, i didn't write down which one though I'm sorry.

...so how can I repay you by having sex and then tossing you aside like a used condom.

At least that condom had it's moment of glory.

All about books tomorrow!

Cupcakes, Jenny Hart, and Greek

So, last night I stayed up two hours later than normal to finally bake my German Chocolate Cupcakes. Though today I learned that the people who work for me don't like them but everyone else does. Between batches I made more Rice Krispies which were still really popular. Next baking day will be Better than Sex cake, I know I have had it and it is.. at least the sex that I have had :)

Super excited today, I got my Jenny Hart books!! I now have to get an iron with board, floss (which I am super excite about!), and more things to stitch! Both items are amazing! The patterns that come with both have my mind in twist about what to do first!

I don't know if you have I Tunes, but I am so hooked on the I-Tunes U! At the moment I am working on Learning Elementary Greek by Dr. James Voelz from Concordia. I also have downloaded classes from MIT, Stanford, UC Berkeley, Yale, and Arizona State. If you haven't been to the free podcast you NEED TO! There is so much to learn for Free! I have two cooking show, the Ugly Betty show, Learning French and Japanese, and What Not to Wear (with Stacey and Clinton!). The three shows that I can't live without are CraftyPod, Ford Models Yoga, and Hip Tranquil Chick. Craftypod has there own website, which they have wonderful links to tons of fun stuff to learn how to do. http://www.craftypod.com/ Hip Tranquil Chick has a wonderful website with a Forum, Om-work (which is homework after each weekly podcast), and wonderful links. http://www.hiptranquilchick.com/podcastblog.html

Podcast, Jazz, and Rice Krispies

I got to leave work an hour earlier than normal, and have no doubt that I ran for that door. That being said, I had extra time and finally got to BAKE!! Well, I don't think that making Rice Krispies really counts as baking... maybe cooking. Anyways, the first batch is done and cooling with more being made tomorrow night along with the cupcakes and maybe a cake. My friend from work wants to come over and bake too, but we both are going to be working late and I don't know how much will be getting done. On another note... I am so happy because Saturday morning as soon as the apartment office opens I will finally get my books about stitching! I know what you are thinking.. huh? Well, I was looking up stuff on the internet.. I get bored and like to search a lot, and found this wonderful company called Sublime Stitching (www.sublimestitching.com) . I had to go to it, because I am a dork and enjoy cross stitching even though I'm not very good at it and because I like some of the songs by the band Sublime. The designs are amazing and the best part is that they are IRON ON!! So really anyone can do it. The owner, a miss Jenny Hart, has two books out and using my awesome 50% coupon from Barnes and Nobles I ordered both! I will let you know about them once I get them figured out.

I also wanted to do a quick plug really fast about a pod-cast called Yogamazing (http://www.yogamazing.com/). When I use to live in Orlando, I tried to go a yoga class once a week at my gym once I finally discovered it. I found that once I starting doing it, even though I was so not good at all! I really enjoyed it, could tell I was getting bendier each class, and if I didn't go to at least one a week I started to feel like something was off in my life. Since moving out to San Antonio I have found Yogamazing and it is very well done, with all the shows being different time lengths if I just don't feel like doing anything I can usually talk myself into a 15 mins class of his. Check it out and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Dark to Dark

So... I went to work this morning all excited because I worked at 6 a.m. ( I'm not a big morning fan.. will explain more later.) Due to the fact that I was going to be home early today and I could finish up all my house work and bake!! At 4:30 p.m. I realized that this was not going to be happening. I left my apt. today at 5:50 a.m. and got home at 9:45 p.m. ie.... dark to dark which always kind of ruins my day because I feel like I haven't had one.

I am either a morning person or an afternoon person... over the years I have trained myself to be one or the other, never both! The job I work now I am the afternoon person... so my thoughts about mornings goes like this. Mornings are good for three things... and really only three things... 1. An amazing mouth watering breakfast. 2. Awesome cartoons, I'm talking about Batman Beyond, Foster's Home for Imagination Friends, etc... 3. Sex. That's all, and if I am not up for one of those three reason's, truth be told I haven't been up early for reason three in a long time, then I shouldn't be up. Now I do have to say that I can be a wonderful morning person, my last job I worked 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. everyday with no problems but I did get my own golf cart.

If all goes well tomorrow I will be baking Rice Krispy Treats.. I'm just trying to figure out a chocolate/peanut butter frosting to them. The cupcakes I am sad to say have been pushed back to Friday night, because I just won't have anyone to eat them. Speaking of night time... what does semi-formal mean really? I know that I have to wear black, but other than that I am lost.. and could I get away with red shoes?

Starting my Adventure!

HI! So I am writing this is to hopefully help out others, who like me can't find the help they are looking for. I've just made a huge moving half way across the U.S. leaving everyone and everything I know and love behind to look deeper into myself. This is my babbles about learning how to cook, sew, creating art, enjoying reading, music, t.v., and all bumps along the adventure. I have one year to try and figure everything out that I can. I would love to hear from you all too!

At the moment I am reading Hot Mama by Jennifer Estep, it just came out today. It's very cute... I'm only half way through it but I like her first book better, Karma Girl, at the moment. I also bought Better Homes and Gardens anyone can cook cookbook. I can't wait to get started, I am a huge fan of baking but no so good with meal unless it is breakfast. Breakfast for dinner anyone? I'm hopefully going to be baking German Chocolate Cupcakes today :) Cupcakes are my favorite thing to bake at the moment, I got a whole desk top calendar about them for 2008.
